Digital Satellite Meter Lacuna Mk 4 III IV Changing transponders.
This is information for anyone who has a Lacuna Mark 4 Digital satellite meter.
One of the problems with it is that the transponders cannot be edited by the user directly but it needs to be done via a PC.
One problem that was noted was that Nilesat 7w was not recognised as having a signal even though a signal could be received on a satellite receiver. To edit a transponder within the Meter data proceed as follows:-
1. Download “Satloader” from metersupport. This is used to upload and download meter data to/from the meter.
2. Then a meter data editor is required. There is an editor at metersupport,, but the zip file is password protected, for a password an email has to be sent to ask for it. However another option is to download this one. It cannot communicate with the Mark 4, but it can edit the meter data.
3. Run Satmeter loader, following the instructions on metersupport and click on read, it will then save the meter data to a file that is chosen.
4 Run Satmeter3, edit the transponders that need editing, then save as a new file.
5. Using Satloader download the new file to the meter.
Finished!

Satellite Terms
DiSEqC- Digital Satellite Equipment Control. This is a system that is used to control varuious satellite components, such as switches and motors. It comes in three main types, DiSEqC 1.0, DiSEqC 1.1 and DiSEqC 1.2. The first two are to control switches and DiSEqC 1.2 is used for motors. All control signals are sent up a single coaxial cable which is fed from the LNB
USALS- Universal Satellites Automatic Location System.
This is a piece of software, that uses the DiSEqC system to control a DiSEqC motor. Instead of having to manually drive the motor round to find the satellites, the USALS software will calculate where to move the motor based on the installation site location. It is much easier to use than DiSEqC 1.2 alone.
LNB - Low Noise Block downcoverter. The is the object on the end of the arm on the dish. It collects the signal from the dish and coverts it from ku band down to a much lowe frequency suitable for sending down a coaxial cable to a receiver.

Spanish Colombian TV Intelsat 905 in the UK, Multivision Latino
To receive Colombian TV chanels from Intelsat 905 (24.5W) requires at least a 60cm satellite dish pointed at 24.5ºW and a receiver which is MPEG-4 and DVB-S2 capable.
More info on the channels here Multivision Latino and here Lyngsat.
The parameters that need to be entered into a capable receiver are as follows:
Freq: 11.048 GHz
symbol rate: 14.400 MS/s
Pol : H
Modulation: DVB-S2 8PSK
Code rate: 2/3
Pilot: OFF
A satellite system suitable for receiving these channels would be the TM6800 motorised satellite kit.

Freesat Installation
It is a little known fact is that when purchasing your Freesat satellite receiver it is is not necessary to pay £80 for the installation service provided by the retailer. Obviously a professional installation is required to ensure that best use is made of the Freesat service. A more cost effective solution may be to contact a local independent satellite installer to install Freesat instead. A fixed dish for Freesat can be installed from as little as £60.
Help with my motorised satellite system.
Having problems installing a motorised dish?
There is one fundamental rule to remember, and that is to get your mast perfectly vertical.
The motor must then be adjusted to align the axis of rotation with the Earth’s polar axis , and the orientation of the motor adjusted to point due south.
The next task is to set the declination, which varies according to the site Latitude.
After some adjustments whilst near the apex of the satellite arc, the dish should now track the satellite arc.
MBC satellites specialise in installing motorised dishes to track the arc. To receive Turksat, Hotbird, Astra, Thor, Hispasat in Kent, install a motorised satellite dish.
